The summer season is upon us, and it will undoubtedly bring game reveals and trailers. E3 was the big highlight for video game fans worldwide in previous years. The convention brought people together to celebrate their love for games, and developers were also given a chance to showcase their upcoming projects. However, E3 2022 has been canceled.
Similarly, Gamescom is also a trade fair for video games held in Germany. Gamescom is usually the next big event after E3 for video game fans worldwide. With E3 canceled, many have set their sights on Gamescom 2022, and it seems like it won’t disappoint.
A new bit of information from Jez Corden points to an exciting time ahead for Gamescom 2022. Jez Corden is a Windows Central journalist who has been known to leak insider information in the past. On the most recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Jez hinted at Xbox being preset at Gamescom 2022 and the event will be held in person. He stated,
“I have heard that they will be at Gamescom this year, they’ll have a presence. Cause Gamescom actually has an in-person event this year. Maybe they will save something for Gamescom.”
Last year, Xbox decided to conduct the event online. However, this year’s event will feature a live performance from Xbox.
This is exciting news for the fans. Xbox has already announced an upcoming showcase for June 12, with Bethesda being the most significant focus. The Bethesda showcase is expected to shake up the industry with gameplay reveals for some of the most anticipated titles in gaming history. Starfield will undoubtedly be the show’s highlight, and Bethesda’s upcoming Redfall could also get an extended look.
Previously, we also reported on almost every studio submitting something for the Xbox showcase. Perhaps, some of those games will now be moved forward to the Gamescom showcase. The company has no shortage of studios, and it would make sense to save some games for a later date. Games like Hellblade 2 and the recently talked about Forza Motorsport could make an appearance at Gamescom.
While Jez has been spot on with leaks in the past, Microsoft has not confirmed this information. Therefore, it would be wise to take it with a grain of salt.
Considering the number of studios under the helm of Xbox, it would not be surprising if this turns out to be true. Xbox has been working on expanding its first-party line-up for several years, and we could finally be seeing the fruits of their efforts. The upcoming showcases will give us a glimpse of what is to come in the future, and fans are likely to have a great time with the reveals.
