- Pendulo Studios released a new Tintin game yesterday.
- Hours after the release, the studio issued a statement clarifying that the launch version is far from the intended experience.
- The developer claims weeks of patches will be required to fix the game.
A new game based on Tintin was just released yesterday. Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh emphasizes dealing with a drug trafficking case, with Pendulo Studios hoping to bring this popular franchise to life through an exciting gaming adventure.
However, much like various games released today, it seems Pendulo Studios did not have enough time to polish the title ahead of release. Following the launch, the developer stated that the game would require several patches for the best experience.
Why it matters: Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh follows the trend of games being released in an unfinished state and requiring multiple weeks or months to be completed.

Spanish developer Pendulo Studios posted a tweet regarding the state of the game on release, asserting that it does not deliver an acceptable experience. The studio said:
Despite our best efforts, those who play the game at launch won’t be able to enjoy the experience as we intended it to be.
Furthermore, the team asserted that this is their most ambitious project, so it is fully dedicated to delivering a polished experience. However, it is quite bizarre that the studio pushed the game out, knowing it needed a lot of work.
Interestingly, this phenomenon has also been observed in the AAA industry. A major release like Cyberpunk 2077 was released in a poor state, finally redeeming itself three years later.
Steam users are currently reporting issues like visual glitches and tons of bugs during gameplay, in addition to poor AI. While the game only has 20 reviews at the moment, nearly 40% of them are negative.
Pendulo Studios claims to be working on fixes. However, the developers claim that fixes will be deployed over the coming weeks, emphasizing that the game requires a lot of work to deliver the intended experience.
The studio is also observing player feedback, keeping all communication channels open for any future queries. While this is encouraging, we cannot get over the fact that studios are willing to put out games in such unpolished states.
Apart from Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh, releases like Redfall, The Last of Us Part 1, Cities Skyline 2, and more have come with various issues in 2023.
Nonetheless, the game is available for current-gen consoles and PC, but we don’t recommend buying, even for the most dedicated fans of the Tintin franchise. With the developer explicitly addressing the current state of Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh, it would be best to wait for discounts and future patches.
