- Suicide Squad requires much stronger AMD GPUs than Nvidia.
- According to the spec sheet, PC gamers need an RX 7900 XT for 4K compared to a Geforce RTX 3080.
- These system requirements suggest a better-optimized port for Nvidia hardware.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is just around the corner, and Rocksteady has revealed its official PC requirements following a wave of new previews. While the requirements are fairly moderate, the game might not be well-optimized, at least for AMD users.
Why it matters: The PlayStation and Xbox consoles ship with AMD hardware. One would assume that this would lead to better optimizations for AMD graphics cards, but this is clearly not the case for Suicide Squad.
Things look relatively bright for Nvidia users.
The game can even run at a decent frame rate on a GPU as old as GTX 1070. For 1080p/60 FPS gaming, you’ll require either an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT. Here, both the GPUs are similarly specced, so the difference is mostly at higher resolutions.
When looking at 4K resolutions, the AMD graphics card recommended is much better than the Nvidia counterpart. At 4K, you’ll require a Geforce RTX 3080 for 60FPS. Meanwhile, Rocksteady suggests a Radeon RX 7900 XT for similar settings on AMD hardware.
Despite its shortcomings from early previews, graphically, the game looks great for a modern AAA title. Based on the visuals alone, these requirements seem reasonable, but the divide between AMD and Nvidia hardware at 4K is massive.
For reference, even in our testing, the RX 7900 XT outperformed the RTX 3080. At 4K, AMD’s card was about 44% faster than Nvidia and about 27% faster at 1440p.
This suggests a lack of proper optimization. Since Alpha testers claim that it does not include DLSS or FSR, the game is unlikely to be sponsored by Nvidia or AMD, making the requirements even more shocking.
According to early impressions, the game runs well, but we can’t comment specifically on the game’s state at launch.
The overall gameplay impressions for now are mostly negative, which forced Rocksteady to remove the NDA. According to Alpha testers, the game has a lot of positive aspects despite the live service focus, but this should become clearer once the final reviews are released.
