StarCraft has always been among the most beloved IPs of the real-time strategy games genre, but the latest entry in the franchise was released in 2010, marking over 13 years since fans have been treated to a new game.
However, the series remains relevant to this day, and many have expressed interest in revisiting the IP. During Tokyo Game Show 2023, Sarah Bond from Xbox hinted at a new entry in the coming years.
Why it matters: A modern rendition of StarCraft is likely to be well-received due to the current fondness for the series. It would also bring millions of new players to the franchise.
(FYI) In an Interview at #XboxTGS Sarah Bond was asked about which IP is most requested to be revived but she answered that a lot of fans and a lot of people in interviews have asked her about StarCraft.

In an interview at Tokyo Game Show 2023, Sarah Bond was asked about IPs she would like to see brought back. She pointed to StarCraft and said that fan demand for the IP has been incredible over the years. Hinting at a future entry, Sarah Bond said:
“It will be fun to see if we can do something with that in the future.”
Earlier this year, a reliable leaker claimed that StarCraft 3 is already in development. Therefore, it is possible Sarah Bond is aware of these plans and hopes to capitalize on the demand for the IP after Microsoft’s acquisition.
While the last game, StarCraft 2, was released over 13 years ago, Blizzard released a number of expansions, supporting the game until 2016. This entry received a lot of love from the fanbase.
Many still consider it to be a brilliant competitive title, claiming that nothing has been able to replace the void left by StarCraft, forcing such hardcore fans to stick by the IP over the years.
Previously, Blizzard announced StarCraft Ghost in 2002, which was eventually canceled in 2014.
This entry was supposed to be completely different from any other StarCraft game, taking the real-time strategy series to the third-person shooter genre to flesh out the lore of the franchise.
The latest tease from Sarah Bond has led to speculation about Xbox and Blizzard potentially revisiting this idea for the revival.
Apart from Sarah Bond, Blizzard has also teased a new StarCraft entry. Such teasers have kept the fandom on its edge and excited for even the smallest piece of information about the potential revival of the franchise.
