Story Highlight
  • Skull and Bones was Ubisoft’s first AAAA release in 2024.
  • The game was launched for $70 but has already come down to $20.
  • Ubisoft is offering the discount through the Publisher’s Legendary Sale and the LEGEND24 promo code.

Skull and Bones, a game Ubisoft was proud of and spent years developing, was quite a disappointing release. Despite concerns over the overall quality, the developer pitched this release a brand-new AAAA title and priced it accordingly.

While Skull and Bones lacked elements like proper shipboarding and sword combat, it cost a whopping $70 at release. However, it can be bought for as little as $20 already.

Why it matters: Many of the biggest releases take at least a full year to reach the $20 price point. Gamers specifically need to hunt for deals to find big releases at such prices, so such a discount is a big deal.

On the Ubisoft store, the studio is currently running the ‘Publisher’s Legendary Sale’ promo. It is important to note that Skull and Bones has already received up to a 50% discount before, but past discounts pale in comparison to the latest offer.

This sale contains various big releases at a discounted rate, knocking down the price of Skull and Bones to a mere $29.99. If this discount wasn’t already big enough, the studio is offering a promo for a further price cut.

Using the LEGEND24 promo code nets an additional $10 discount. After applying this code, the game can be had for just $19.99, and if you still don’t feel compelled to buy it, Ubisoft may just be out of luck.

What makes this discount so surprising is the fact that Skull and Bones has not been on the market for a full three months yet.

Skull and Bones has already been discounted several times since its release. However, with each new discount being bigger than the last, it seems these promotions have not done much to help this sinking ship.

For a major AAAA release, the game couldn’t even keep Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, interested for more than two minutes. However, it seems he was far from the only one since these discounts point to desperation on Ubisoft’s end.
