- Silent Hill 2 Remake has received criticism for its first gameplay trailer.
- Bloober Team recently addressed the trailer, stating that Konami handled the marketing.
- According to the Bloober Team president, this trailer does not reflect the game’s spirit.
Silent Hill 2 Remake finally showed up this month after an explosive reveal in 2022. However, what was expected to be a triumphant return to form for this beloved horror game quickly turned into a dreadful trailer that missed the point of the original classic.
Konami’s latest trailer has been received poorly by most fans. However, it seems the fans are not alone, with Bloober Team echoing similar thoughts, stating that the trailer did not reflect the spirit of the remake.
Why it matters: Bloober Team previously stated that Konami was responsible for this remake’s marketing. Therefore, it seems the studio had next to no input in how the trailer was cut and presented.
As reported by Eurogamer, the Bloober Team president recently shared his thoughts about Silent Hill 2 Remake’s debut at Sony’s State of Play.
He joked that fans could find a few negative comments on the trailer from his account but went on to clarify that this footage was in no way an accurate representation of the studio’s work on this remake.
Bloober Team has poured its heart and soul into rejuvenating the horror icon as the remake approaches its final development phase. Therefore, the president was not too impressed with Konami’s portrayal of Silent Hill 2 Remake.
This trailer certainly does not reflect the spirit of the game.

He went on to assure fans that a more extensive look at the gameplay would not fail to impress.
Bloober Team also claims that Silent Hill 2 Remake is putting Unreal Engine 5 to good use, making sure that all of the revolutionary features of this engine are utilized for the exciting remake.
Apart from Silent Hill 2 Remake, Konami debuted Silent Hill: The Short Message at the same State of Play. This game has reached over two million downloads, offering an experience oddly reminiscent of the canceled Silent Hill PT.
Bloober Team’s statement on the remake has been encouraging. Many had begun to lose faith in this project after the recent trailer, but the president hopes fans will change their outlook once more trailers are revealed.
The game is currently expected to launch later in 2024, with PlayStation previously featuring the remake in a teaser containing games scheduled for this year.
