Following recent sales on processors from Intel and AMD, another SKU from AMD has seen a price drop on the market and is currently being sold for just $200 on BestBuy.
The processor in question is the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, designed for the latest AM5 platform. Being a 6 cores and 12 threads processor from 2022, it is one of the fastest chips on the market that can rival much more expensive CPUs like the Intel Core i9 12900K in gaming.
With a price tag of just $200, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X is currently the cheapest AM5-compatible processor on the market.
This price also makes it cheaper than its slower counterpart, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600. The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X was initially priced at $300, but due to the competition from Intel, AMD quickly realized that a $300 price tag is not great for a 6-core processor in 2023.
Furthermore, with the current AMD promotion, the processor becomes a must-buy for anyone looking to invest in the new AM5 platform. With the purchase of the Ryzen 5 7600X, users will get a free copy of the much anticipated Starfield.
Users should also note that the processor does not come with a cooler, unlike its slower non-X version. Furthermore, the new AM5 socket is incompatible with coolers with a custom backplate.
Therefore, users should invest in a cooler that will utilize the default AM5 mounting bracket for compatibility.
