Architectural Differences
- Clock Speeds: The RTX 4070 Ti Super clocks much higher than the previous gen card, with a base clock of 2340MHz and a boost of up to 2610MHz. The RTX 3080, however, has a base clock of 1440MHz and a boost of up to 1710MHz.
- VRAM: The RTX 3080 offers options with 10GB and 12GB of GDDR6X memory on a 320-bit bus width. In contrast, the RTX 4070 Ti Super defaults to 16GB but has a narrower 256-bit bus width.

Gaming Benchmarks – 1440p
Every graphics card that makes it to our comparison is thoroughly tested, and these cards are no exception. To benchmark them, we used a test bench that leaves only the GPUs as the weak point, the specifications of which you can take a look at below. Also bear in mind that the testing done today was with the 12GB variant of the RTX 3080 and not the 10GB variant.

Alan Wake 2
- With DLSS quality, the RTX 4070 Ti Super averaged 105 FPS, showing a 25% higher framerate than the RTX 3080, which achieved 86 FPS. Despite the difference, both cards delivered an enjoyable gaming experience.
- The 1% lows in this game were around 25% apart, with the RTX 4070 Ti Super buckling down to 54 FPS in some scenes, whereas the RTX 3080 had a framerate closer to 43 FPS when stress was put our the card.
Cyberpunk 2077
- Both GPUs faced challenges in our Cyberpunk 2077 test with RT Overdrive and DLSS Q, but the gameplay remained acceptable. The RTX 3080 averaged 48 FPS, while the 4070 Ti Super outperformed with an average of 59 FPS, showcasing a 23% difference.
- The dips in this game were more noticeable due to the low base framerate, with the RTX 4070 Ti Super getting minimums of 50 FPS, while its rival hovered around 39 FPS.
Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora
- This game performed exceptionally well on both cards, displaying a 32% difference. The RTX 3080 achieved an average framerate of 75 FPS, while the RTX 4070 Ti excelled with an average of 99 FPS, both tested without DLSS.
- The 1% lows shared a 35% distinction, with the RTX 3080 getting minimums of around 60 FPS, while the newer RTX 4070 Ti Super had lows of around 81 FPS.
Lords Of The Fallen
- After unsatisfactory results without DLSS, enabling DLSS Q in Lords Of The Fallen raised the RTX 3080’s average to 75 FPS, 24% lower than the RTX 4070 Ti Super’s 93 FPS.
- Minimum framerates on the RTX 3080 fell to around 54 FPS in our testing of this card, whereas the lows of the RTX 4070 Ti Super held strong at around 65 FPS, leading to a difference of 20% between the two.
Baldur’s Gate 3
- At Ultra settings and no DLSS in Baldur’s Gate 3, both cards showed smooth framerates at 1440p, with a minimal 3% difference. The RTX 3080 averaged 121 FPS, just slightly below the RTX 4070’s 125 FPS.
- The difference remained small when it came to the 1% lows as well, with the RTX 3080 going down to 69 FPS while the RTX 4070 Ti Super had lows of 74 FPS, making up a 7% difference between the cards.
Starfield
- With some DLSS applied, the RTX 4070 Ti Super managed to secure another 23% win in this game, with an average framerate of 95 FPS, while the RTX 3080 had an average closer to 95 FPS.
- The 1% lows of both cards were, again, very close, with a difference of around 9% between the two. The RTX 3080 had lows of 58 FPS, whereas the RTX 4070 Ti Super managed lows closer to 63 FPS.
Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3
- In CoD MW3 with basic settings for competitive play, the RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed the RTX 3080 by approximately 29%, achieving an average framerate of 255 FPS compared to the RTX 3080’s 198 FPS.
- The difference between the two chips was around 29% in our test, with the RTX 3080 hovering around 129 FPS, whereas the RTX 4070 Ti Super had lows of 167 FPS.
Resident Evil 4
- With the setting maxed out, we noticed a 32% advantage for the RTX 4070 Ti Super in our tests, with the card getting an average framerate of around 136 FPS, whereas the RTX 3080 had an average framerate of 103 FPS.
- The 1% lows showed an even bigger difference of 35%, with the RTX 3080 at minimums of 91 FPS, while the RTX 4070 Ti Super had lows of 123 FPS.
