- A new update to Rockstar’s website suggests Red Dead Redemption will be released on PC soon.
- The game was previously available on all major consoles, including PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch.
- This marks the first time this entry will arrive on PC.
The original Red Dead Redemption is a game that doesn’t get enough credit. The title was outstanding for its time and provided the studio with an excellent platform to later develop the sequel.
However, the game was never released on PC, but this seems to be changing soon.
Why it matters: The original Red Dead Redemption was released on consoles only. Fans have been demanding a PC port for a very long time now, but unfortunately, that never existed.
Originally released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, the game was remsatered and arrived on the Nintendo Switch last year. Despite being available on all major platforms, a PC release is still missing.
As spotted by Tez2, a new update to Rockstar’s launcher site hints at an imminent Red Dead Redemption port for PC. The file clearly mentions Red Dead Redemption along with some of the elements within the game.
Rockstar never actually denied porting the game on this platform. Last year, when the PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions dropped, Rockstar’s president stated that the decision to launch on this platform was up to the developers.
But after this latest development, the release seems closer than ever. The game was also updated with 60FPS on consoles not too long ago, so PC players should find the best version possible.
Anyhow, it will be great to have Red Dead Redemption on PC finally. The only way to access it currently is to use an emulator, but an official PC version will finally expand Rockstar Games’ catalog on the platform.
