According to the latest rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo and Nvidia will offer the most recent version of DLSS for the console. While the upscaling was already expected, reports claim that the recently introduced DLSS 3.5 will be one of the new technologies offered by Nintendo.

DLSS 3.5 comes with Ray Reconstruction, further improving ray tracing quality through the use of denoisers. It can also lead to performance benefits in certain scenarios.

Why it matters: This rumor points to cutting-edge hardware within a limited budget and mobile form factor for the Nintendo Switch 2.

While Ray Reconstruction is now expected for the hardware, leaker Nate the Hate says it will not support Frame Generation. Nonetheless, this is not a massive loss since players don’t expect over 60FPS from handheld or hybrid devices.

Past rumors have already pointed to a Breath of the Wild demo running on the console, aiming for 60FPS and a higher resolution. Reports have also claimed that it will include support for Unreal Engine 5.

While unconfirmed, such rumors and reports mean that the Nintendo Switch 2 could be quite an impressive piece of technology. We don’t expect it to match the PS5 or the Xbox Series S|X, but it should be a massive uplift over the company’s current console.

Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has recently claimed it doesn’t necessarily aim for the best hardware features, but the gaming giant may surprise the industry next year.

We are more excited than ever about the future of handheld gaming since Nintendo is also known to bring unique innovations alongside each new hardware release. The Nintendo Switch was a novel concept in 2017, and its successor could come with similar features.
