Monster Hunter Wilds was one of the most exciting reveals at the 2023 Game Awards. However, the excitement has been tempered by the announcement that the game will not be released on the Nintendo Switch due to the console’s hardware limitations.

The game is set to launch in 2025, which coincides with the potential Switch 2 launch. Therefore, Monster Hunter Wilds may eventually launch on the Switch 2.

Why it matters: Capcom’s choice not to release Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch indicates that the console is getting old.

Capcom stated in a Q&A summary from their 45th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders that they think only the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC can fully showcase all features of the new game.
