Story Highlight
  • Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 is still being worked on.
  • The developers are looking to introduce 4K resolution support to the game.
  • Konami has also teased the possibility of releasing more remakes.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 was released last year, and while it didn’t see great reception due to the minimal changes introduced, Konami has successfully returned to the scene after this release.

In a recent interview, Konami confirms that further improvements for the Master Collection are on the way, including 4K support. However, it also teased the exciting possibility of releasing more remakes.

Why it matters: The Metal Gear franchise has already sold over 60 million units worldwide and remains one of the most popular IPs even two decades later.

YouTube video

The official YouTube channel of Konami has posted a new Production Hotline video that discusses the IP’s future without Hideo Kojima.

The producer of the franchise, Noriaki Okamura, has confirmed in the video that the inadequate upscaling method used in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is currently being adjusted. Konami is now looking to introduce 4K support to the collection.

He states that it will be available to all games through a free update. Other improvements to control configuration options and keyboard controls for the PC version will also be added through updates in the coming time.

On a more exciting note, producer Noriaki Okamura addressed the possibility of further remakes. With more information about Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake coming soon, the producer states that Konami will wait for fan reception before the next decision.

We’ll get feedback from users who say, maybe they should make the next remake.

This statement implies that the team is still more than willing to remake other projects. In the past, Konami has offered similar responses when asked about future remakes.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1

According to leaks, the publisher is already set on remaking the first Metal Gear Solid title. This might be the best option moving forward since Hideo Kojima is no longer a part of this series.

An existing trailer of Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was also shown in the video, but more details are coming soon. For now, Konami awaits fan reception of this remake.

This may be a wise decision considering the flack it received for Silent Hill 2 Remake after the publisher failed to recapture the original’s charm. Nonetheless, the Metal Gear Solid remake looks more promising.
