Despite performance issues on PC hardware, Bethesda seems to have engaged millions of players in its open-world RPG, Starfield. However, unlike AMD and Nvidia, Intel graphics card owners are having a lot of driver-related issues while playing Starfield.

During its early access phase, Starfield was basically unplayable on an Intel Arc graphics card. A lot of users reported being unable to launch the game, and Intel quickly realized the seriousness of the issue.

The company pushed forward drivers specifically optimized for Starfield, but the existing Arc Starfield drivers or the newly released ones have failed to address the issues gamers are facing regarding performance.

While Intel is committed to improving performance for Starfield with regular updates to enhance the gaming experience, Bethesda believes the Intel Arc A770 is not well-equipped to run Starfield.

Why it matters: Intel is the newest competitor in the graphics card market and hopes to work with game developers to address any performance issues on its new endeavors in the market.

In order to address optimization issues on the Intel Arc graphics cards, users are now looking to Bethesda for support. One user, in particular, was informed by support that his Intel Arc A770 graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements to run Starfield.

This statement from customer support is quite confusing since the performance of the Intel Arc A770 is close to that of the Radeon RX 7600 or Nvidia RTX 3060. Both of these graphics cards are better than the recommended minimum hardware.

The Intel graphics card is able to outshine the Radeon RX 5700 and Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, suggesting that the issue is specific to Intel software.

However, it appears Bethesda is not interested in tackling the issue, and users might have to rely on Intel to come up with a fix.
