Players are currently facing the threat of having their GTA Online stats reset. Exploits are nothing new to the world of GTA Online, and these hacks have existed since the earliest days of GTA Online. However, this new wave of hacks appears to be the worst threat to GTA Online.
Initially, it was expected that the worst possible outcome would result in players losing GTA Online progress. But another concerning report has revealed that the new exploits could significantly harm GTA Online players in more ways.

The community has learned more about the ongoing situation, concluding that these exploits involve remote code execution. This could mean that hackers could affect the whole PC, going beyond GTA Online.
The implications are unknown, but hacked PCs could potentially give hackers access to personal and sensitive information. Previously, attacks on gaming platforms like PSN have resulted in leaked credit card details, and users would be advised to practice extreme caution till Rockstar Games deals with the problem.
The Rockstar reporter, Tez2, believes the attacks are likely a top priority for the studio internally. According to the user, Rockstar has already started to address the issue, logging affected accounts.
A few months ago, Rockstar also suffered a data breach, leading to GTA 6 footage leaks across the internet. However, the company quickly resolved the issue and issued an official statement.
Despite the concern, fans can only practice caution while waiting for Rockstar Games to deal with the issue. However, till then, it would be best to avoid GTA Online to avoid potential threats from the exploits.
