- GTA 6 is currently scheduled to arrive in 2025.
- Take-Two previously hinted at an early 2025 launch for the game.
- However, new forecasts from the publisher hint that it may have been pushed back.
- Rockstar Games’ past trends indicate that the game will now be launched after September.
GTA 6 is undoubtedly the most anticipated title at the moment. Finally unveiled in December last year, this game is coming in 2025 after fans spent a decade immersed in GTA 5.
While earlier statements from Take-Two pointed to a release date in Q1 2025, Take-Two’s latest plans hint that the game could arrive later in the year.
Why it matters: The entire industry will be impacted by the release of GTA 6. Recently, the Ubisoft CEO admitted that its release would lead to positive impacts for everyone in the industry, helping drive improved sales and engagement.
During Take-Two’s recent earnings call, GTA 6 was brought up multiple times, unsurprisingly, and the publisher revealed a few new details about the title.
While talking about its development, Take-Two’s CEO stated that Rockstar Games is seeking perfection for the game. The CEO made a similar comment last year, hinting that the developer would not be rushed to release the game.
Though the publisher’s revenue forecasts strongly suggested a release between January and March 2025 in the past, it appears Take-Two is ready to delay the game further into the year.
The latest comments indicate a greater revenue forecast in Fiscal Year 2026, hinting that GTA 6 will be released after March 2025.
“We do expect to see growth in Fiscal Year ’26 over ’25, so that hasn’t changed.”
Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein
The publisher previously expected revenue forecasts of over $8 billion in Fiscal Year 2025. However, its latest forecasts are lower, with Take-Two adjusting them to $7 billion for FY2025.
“The number is tracking above $7 billion for net bookings.”
Take-Two CFO Lainie Goldstein
These statements suggest the publisher no longer predicts a Q1 2025 launch for GTA 6.
Fiscal Year 2026 likely means that GTA 6 will be released toward the end of the year, with a typical September-November release window. This would be in line with Rockstar Games’ past releases.
In extreme cases, this window leaves the option for an early 2026 launch, though this seems highly unlikely for now.
GTA 6 will also skip the PC platform at launch. However, with the current popularity of this platform, Rockstar Games is expected to launch its PC port quicker than previous releases would have us believe.
Meanwhile, Take-Two also acknowledged the incredible reception of the first trailer in its earnings conference. The trailer reached nearly 100 million views in 24 hours, later becoming gaming’s second-biggest trailer.
