Graphics Card prices have constantly been falling in 2022. While the last year has been rough for PC Gaming, the market is on track to go back to normal pricing. Many have been waiting for over a year to get their hands on a brand new GPU, and it seems like their patience will soon be rewarded. Last month, we reported on GPU prices being lower than ever, and it looks like prices have continued to decline over the previous few weeks.
According to the graphs provided by foreign media 3DCenter, Graphics Card prices are now only 10-20% higher than their original MSRP.
As the graph shows, AMD cards are now 12% higher than MSRP, while Nvidia cards are selling at 19% above MSRP. Though these are still higher than we’d like, it is evident that the market is in a much better place than it was just a few months ago. The graph also shows Ethereum prices are constantly fluctuating, and we already know that Ethereum isn’t as profitable as it was back in 2021. Availability has also drastically improved over the months.
The direct comparison also paints an interesting picture. AMD GPUs have seen a much more drastic decline in prices than Nvidia GPUs. This is surprising because both companies have been very competitive this generation in terms of the products they have launched. Furthermore, GPUs like the RX 6600 have somehow managed to escape the ridiculous prices for a while, which is the complete opposite of Nvidia’s situation.
If the current trend continues, GPUs selling at MSRP could soon become a reality. However, it also appears that people are not interested in Ampere and RDNA2 GPUs. With the next-generation GPUs on the horizon, current-gen GPUs are expected to sell below MSRP. In the past, we have also reported on the next generation Graphics Cards, and if those reports are anything to go by, it would be wise to wait for the new GPUs, expected to arrive in Q2-2022.
