- The Elder Scrolls Online has received a total of 42 DLCs over the last 10 years.
- According to the developers, this game offers more content than 10 single-player titles.
- The next expansion is scheduled for release in June.
The Elder Scrolls Online is one major piece of Xbox’s live-service puzzle. This spin-off has been going strong for well over a decade, expanding its influence as fans await the eventual arrival of Elder Scrolls 6.
In the last decade, this game has made over $2 billion through customer spending. Needless to say, it has grown into a major title with plenty of content for everyone. In fact, the developers believe it can offer enough content to match 10 single-player releases.
Why it matters: This statement shows just how much value this online title offers today. New players will easily find hundreds of hours of content when jumping in for the first time.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Narrative Director Bill Slavicsek reflected on this online game’s journey over the last 10 years.
Like any live-service title, The Elder Scrolls Online has been completely transformed since its release. ZeniMax Online Studios has also released plenty of additional content through expansions like any other MMO.
While the developer does not follow the subscription model of other titles, upcoming expansions like Gold Road offer new characters, quests, and areas to explore, keeping this MMO brimming with new life in 2024.
Because so much has now been added on top of the vanilla release, the Narrative Director believes The Elder Scrolls Online can rival more than 10 full single-player releases.
That’s the equivalent of more than 10 single-player games coming out one right after another.
-Bill Slavicsek
For reference, over 23 DLCs and 42 themed updates have been released since 2014.
Bill Slavicsek also noted that this is only possible since ZeniMax Online Studios was consistent with these updates. He believes the team is among the most productive AAA developers.
Moving forward, ZeniMax Online Studios is working on a brand new project. Not much is known about this game, but support for The Elder Scrolls Online does not seem to be ramping down anytime soon.
With Gold Road scheduled for release next month, there’s plenty of fresh content to anticipate for the fandom.
