From Software’s latest IP, Elden Ring got a lot of fame and also went on to win the Game of The Year award at TGA 2022. Recently, Director Hidetaka Miyazaki also earned a Nebula award for the title, along with George R.R. Martin.
While many gaming fans have moved on to new titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4, Elden Ring remains popular. FromSoftware’s latest game has now managed to become the most-played Steam Deck title in May.
Why it matters: Even with numerous great games released since Elden Ring came out, fans continue to return to the game. This highlights FromSoftware’s replay value.

As seen above, Elden Ring has leaped ahead of exceptional titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5.
Additionally, critically acclaimed titles from 2023, like Hogwarts Legacy, are also seen on the list, but even these games have not been able to keep up with FromSoftware’s latest hit.
While the Steam Deck is inferior to gaming PCs and current-gen consoles, it has a unique advantage over powerful PCs in this game. Elden Ring’s PC port is notorious for stuttering, but Valve has ensured the problem does not occur as frequently on the handheld.
As such, many users have likely gravitated toward the Steam Deck for a smooth experience.
Elden Ring has also sold over 20 million copies, and a new DLC is currently in development. With an already healthy player base, the game will likely see a massive resurgence once the DLC expansion is released.
