Following the reduction in production from the DRAM and NAND sectors, manufacturers of memory are now benefiting from an increase in prices.
While the production has gone down, demand continues to soar. Manufacturers benefiting from the trend include the likes of Winbond, Phison, and Adata. According to UDN.com, such companies reported an increase in revenue for Q3 and September.
Furthermore, other manufacturers like SK Hynix, Micron, and Samsung are also witnessing an uplift in revenue due to production cuts. The Founder of ADATA Technology expects an uplift in NAND and DRAM contract prices by up to 15%.
He also expects the contract and spot rates for memory to remain high throughout the year.
A manufacturer like Phison saw a 32% decline in revenue for the first three quarters of the year, accounting for $10.1 billion in revenue. However, September alone has brought a $1.557 billion increase, resulting in a 25.38% uplift in monthly revenue.
Adata, on the other hand, has taken advantage of both production and the increase in NAND and DRAM prices. The company has now earned an estimated $461.2 million in the month of September.
This meant that the Q3 earnings accounted for a total of $1.135 billion, resulting in a monthly increase of 16.47%. DRAM and NAND manufacturers are optimistic for the upcoming quarter as well, hoping to continue this momentum.
Companies like Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix would be able to capitalize on upcoming holiday events, making for a more profitable season this quarter if the current trend continues.
Due to the demand for more storage compared to previous years, storage prices for high-speed solutions are likely going to increase exponentially, even though the current prices are still low, with a lot of deals offered by manufacturers.
The current prices may not be around by 2024, making the last few months of 2023 a great time to upgrade or buy new storage for existing devices before a potential price hike.
