Resident Evil is a renowned franchise enjoyed by fans worldwide. The franchise has had eight main entries, while various entries have received remakes recently.
Resident Evil 2 and 3 were remade in 2019 and 2020. Following these games, Capcom released Resident Evil 4 Remake to much critical and commercial success in 2023. However, fans have also wanted to see remakes for non-numbered entries.
This includes games like Resident Evil Code: Veronica. While nothing is confirmed, a Q&A from Capcom has provided more hope for such remakes.
Why it matters: Capcom has found incredible success with recent remakes. Resident Evil 4 Remake has exceeded expectations, selling millions of units at an impressive rate.
During a recent meeting, Capcom was asked about remakes. The shareholder brought up the question about remakes for non-numbered entries. Capcom replied:
“We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of this series.”
The gaming giant also confirmed plans to appeal to a broader audience. Apart from the mainline entries, Resident Evil Code: Veronica is among the most popular releases from the horror IP.
A remake for this game would allow Capcom to bring further improvements while ensuring older players can relive their memories with the game. The game is also much older than the next mainline title, making it more suitable for a potential remake.
Previously, Capcom released a survey asking for fan feedback on future remakes. Therefore, it is clear that the gaming giant is considering multiple possibilities for future remakes.
Capcom has already hinted at a remake for Resident Evil 5, so the next mainline entry could be a potential candidate for the gaming giant’s next remake.
Additionally, Capcom is considering a new approach for Mega Man, hinting at an exciting future for nearly all of the company’s existing gaming IPs.
