Blizzard is currently working on a brand-new survival game for consoles and PC. Last year, the company announced the game with new artwork, outlining the developer’s ambitions for the project.
Over a year later, Blizzard’s survival game is still largely a mystery. However, leaker Jez Corden has shared a few new details on the game during the latest Xbox Two podcast. He stated:
“I pretty much know now the game is called Odyssey.”
Previously, reports claimed the game was codenamed Odyssey, but this seems to be the final title for the project. Jez further believes that the game is nearing completion. He said:
“I feel it’s so close to being completed in multiplatform context.”
He speculated that Odyssey would likely be multiplatform since the game is nearing completion. This could also mean that the game might be released much sooner than expected, potentially coming out on console and PC before the Activision Blizzard acquisition is completed.
Previously, Jez Corden revealed details on the game, including first-person combat with a bow and a similar aesthetic to titles like Everwild. The leaker further highlighted base-building mechanics.
However, nothing has been confirmed for now. While Jez has seen footage of the game and has been highly reliable in the past, it would be best to take things with a slight grain of salt until official information is revealed.
Fans can look forward to more details about the game this year. With many events like the Xbox Showcase and Blizzcon in 2023, Odyssey could be present at any of these events. Odyssey will mark Blizzard’s first original IP in many years. The development team also doubled last year and is currently being led by the former Far Cry 3 Producer.
