Gaming Benchmarks Of The Best GPU For Core i5-14600K

There are many factors to consider when purchasing a GPU. The performance difference of GPUs at different resolutions is the most important factor. For that reason, I have compiled the readings of my tests with the following graphs at 1080p, 1440p and 4K resolutions. The tests were conducted twice: an only rasterization performance benchmark and another to find the ray tracing performance.

Important GPU Key Terms

  • Ray TracingRay tracing is a graphical intensive technique replicating lighting and shadows to mimic reality. Ray tracing requires RT cores that perform complex mathematical calculations. RT provides users with eye candy and a significant performance hit.
  • DLSSShort for Deep Learning Super Sampling, DLSS is an AI image upscaling technology utilized by NVIDIA to negate the performance hit noticed through ray tracing. Enbaling DLSS can increase FPS but reduce image quality. AMD uses a similar technique called Fidelity FX Super Resolution (FSR).
  • CUDA CoresCUDA cores are processing units found in NVIDIA GPUs that help developers harness a GPU’s computational power and allow the CPU to perform intensive tasks quickly. AMD GPUs use a similar technology called stream processors.
  • Tensor CoresTensor cores are specialized cores used by NVIDIA GPUs for complex matrix calculations often used for deep learning and machine learning tasks. Furthermore, tensor cores help accelerate DLSS performance.
  • OverclockingOverclocking allows users to exceed the maximum boost clock speeds set by a manufacturer by increasing the component’s power consumption. You can overclock most PC components, but taking precautions is wiser, as excessive overclocking can harm your CPU and GPU.
  • VRAMShort for Video Random Access Memory, the VRAM stores shaders and renders, among other graphical elements, within the GPU for quicker access. VRAM is only available for graphics cards.
  • GDDR6GDDR6 is one of the latest VRAM types mainly used by high-end GPUs, offering a bandwidth between 14Gbps and 16Gbps. NVIDIA has recently developed another memory type called GDDR6X, which offers bandwidths between 19Gbps and 21Gbps.

How We Tested & Picked The Best GPU For Core i5-14600K

  • Performance: Knowing the performance upgrade and value for money you gain by buying a new GPU is the most essential aspect when choosing which GPU you should buy for your preferred processor. Moreover, it’s critical to analyze any bottlenecking issues beforehand. Otherwise, you won’t get the performance you paid for.
  • Cooling Capabilities: Along with the performance, it is vital to understand the cooling required for each GPU. Many graphics cards require moderate air cooling, while others need water cooling to keep their temperatures intact. Therefore, I chose GPUs with higher values, better cooling solutions, and lower temperatures under full load.
  • Wattage Requirements: Another critical factor to consider is the wattage requirement of the GPU you’re willing to purchase. Not having a strong enough PSU for your intended GPU can be hazardous. Thus, the GPUs I chose require anywhere between 600W and 750W power supplies.
  • Aesthetics: The aesthetics aren’t the most essential aspect, but if you’re building on a specific theme, you’ll want to look for different color variants, RGB, and cooler designs. Of course, I looked into the versatility of the products I chose for various build themes.
