According to a new leak, AMD may be preparing a brand new Zen 3-based 3D V-Cache processor for the AM4 platform. A leaked picture from a reputable source on Twitter shares details on a six-core variant from AMD, known as the Ryzen 5 5600X3D.
The Ryzen 5 5600X3D, just like its predecessor, will come equipped with 6 cores and 12 threads and a base/boost frequency of 4.4/3.3 GHz, respectively.
There are still some issues with the new AM5 platform. The cost of changing to the new AM5 platform from AMD is also high since users have to pay for the expensive first-generation boards and DDR5 RAM.
However, for those who still want to remain on the older AM4 platform, the only option currently available is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V-Cache technology. This may change with the Ryzen 5 5600X3D being an option for users at a cheaper entry point.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is already quite a popular chip for the AM4 platform and has seen regular discounts since its launch. Newegg currently offers the Ryzen 7 5800X3D chip for just $299 with a promo code.
With the Ryzen 7 5800X3D dominating the sub $300 market, there is space for another 3D V-Cache processor for the sub $200 market. However, not much else is known about this supposed new 6-core 3D V-Cache processor from AMD.
If AMD can price the alleged processor right somewhere near the $200 mark, then we might be looking at the best price to performance processor from the company. The launch of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D will also make way for a cheaper 3D V-Cache chip in the Ryzen 7000 line-up.
