According to steam the system requirement for the PC port of Returnal are as follows:

Returnal Minimum System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (version 1903)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 (4 core 2.7GHz) AMD Ryzen 5 1500X (4 core 3.5GHz)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD Recommended
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (version 1903)
  • Processor: Intel i7-8700 (6 core @3.7 GHz) AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (8 core @3.7 GHz)
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 SUPER (8 GB) AMD RX 6700 XT (12 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Unlike other Sony PC ports, the Returnal PC port will be co-developed by two developers including Climax and Housemarque Studios. Climax and Housemarque Studios have a good track record for porting PC games in the past and judging from Sony’s track record for PC till now, we shouldn’t be worried about the optimization/performance of Returnal on PC though the 32GB RAM requirement is on the higher side.

Furthermore, the game will support both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR upscaling technology and the PC port of Returnal will also be launching with all updates included like co-op mode, challenge mode, and tower of Sisyphus endless mode. Though the only downside would be cross-platform co-op mode as PC players would not be able to play with PlayStation 5 owners. But it should not be a surprise as Sony has always been against cross-platform compatibility.

What are your thoughts on Returnal finally coming to PC and especially the 32 GB recommend RAM support suggested by the developers on the game?
