The Game Awards is shaping to be the most anticipated gaming showcase for 2022. Fans have grown accustomed to big announcements from the showcase and eventual discussions about the winner of the Game of The Year.
While fans have huge expectations for the event, host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, has stated that the event will be more streamlined this year with fewer big announcements.

The host recently went live on Twitter Space and revealed some information about The Game Awards 2022. He said,
“We definitely have cut back pretty significantly in terms of runtime on the show With you know fewer games, fewer bigger games in there.”
Some fans might find this disappointing. This year has not been the best in terms of showcases, with major companies like PlayStation skipping one entirely. As such, fans had huge expectations for The Game Awards 2022.
Previously, the event has received criticism for excessive promotional material. While The Game Awards will see less runtime this year, Geoff has not clarified if these promotions will continue to take up a chunk of the event’s runtime.
However, Geoff may be trying to prevent unrealistic expectations. He does not believe that the show will be disappointing, and many great things are still planned for the show.
There is so much crazy stuff going on this year for #TheGameAwards
We are just getting started….

This makes sense, given the information that has surfaced in the past few days. Recently announced Tekken 8 is confirmed for The Game Awards, and the highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also rumored for the show. As such, it looks like Geoff is aiming for high quality over quantity.
Moreover, the show has been home to massive announcements like Mortal Kombat 11. However, it remains to be seen if the event will live up to the industry’s huge expectations this year.
The Game Awards will go live on December 8, 2022, and fans can watch the show across multiple platforms like Twitch and Youtube for the exciting game reveals and trailers.
