Since 2014, Glorious has been a key player in affordable and high-quality PC gaming gear. Known for sleek design and professional-grade functionality, they’ve democratized access to top-tier equipment. With a focus on innovation and a fan-favorite Model O mouse, Glorious caters to gamers of all levels. Their success showcases a commitment to providing affordable, cutting-edge peripherals, like the popular Model D Minus, which I will be testing today.

Key Takeaways

  • The Glorious D-Minus is a lightweight and ergonomic gaming mouse designed by Glorious PC Gaming Race, prioritizing functionality for a comfortable gaming experience.
  • The Glorious D-Minus is ideal for gamers who prefer a lightweight and ergonomic design, accommodate various grip styles, and seek customizable RGB lighting with precise sensor performance.
  • Consequently, the Glorious D-Minus mouse is unsuitable for users who prioritize a heavier mouse for professional efficiency or those with strong preferences for specific design elements.

There are two sizes of the Glorious Model D Ultra Light Ergonomic Mouse, one for medium-sized hands and the other for large. Its ergonomic, featherweight design conceals a wealth of high-end components. The mouse is 61 x 120 x 40 mm (WxLxH). The mouse’s height was measured from its base to its highest point.

PRO TIP: Keep the mouse feet clean and free from dust or debris for smooth gliding. Regularly clean your mousepad and the feet of the D-Minus to maintain optimal tracking.

The Glorious Model D – Mouse weighs in at 61 gm (without the cord), so you can be certain that you are holding a reasonably lightweight mouse. For a lightweight gaming mouse, consider the Glorious Model D Minus. A refinement of the Model O, it’s comfortable for palm or claw grips and boasts a simple design with six buttons, including two primary clickers, a scroll wheel, and a DPI-switching button.

The bottom indicates color-coded DPI settings. Internally, it features a Pixart PMW-3360 sensor for precise tracking up to 12,000 dpi. Available in black or white with matte or glossy finish, it’s a wired mouse, making it ideal for a desktop setup but less portable for laptops. Let’s take a look at the product’s specifications:

The primary focus of an esports mouse is on its speed. Because, in principle, a lighter mouse allows for quicker movement, manufacturers eliminate all unnecessary components in pursuit of minimal weight. On the other hand, the Model D minus has relatively few extras and is very lightweight (only 2.15 ounces). Although the Glorious and numerous other basic mouse manufacturers only vary by ounce or so, the Glorious is much more fluid to use.

Packaging and Unboxing

The mouse is packaged in a black and white paperboard box for shipping. All in all, the presentation is well done.

In any case, it’s wonderful that Glorious lets you customize your experience to your preference.

Closer Look

Having hands-on experience with the Glorious Model D Minus, I can say that it excels in ergonomic design for right-handed users, perfect for fast-paced games. The series offers versatile options like the symmetric Glorious Model O and Model O- for different preferences. The emphasis on practical, ergonomic layouts in the Glorious Model D and Model D- ensures a comfortable gaming experience.

Despite size variations, all Glorious mice share similar specs, compact designs, eye-catching RGB lighting, and meticulous attention to detail. Priced at $50, the Glorious Model D Minus maintains a high standard, delivering quality with features like PTFE feet, sensors, and buttons. In my experience, it’s an excellent choice for gamers valuing precision and comfort.

After putting the Glorious Model D Minus to the test, I’m impressed by its swift and precise performance, thanks to the Omron switches and G-Skates PTFE feet. The straightforward six-button layout caters perfectly to the needs of shooter players, and Glorious’ software allows for convenient customization.

However, the aesthetics took a bit of a hit for me. The mascot image where your thumb rests, and the subtle “Glorious” stamp on the right side might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Clicking is a pleasure with distinct and immediate sensations, minimal pre-travel, and a satisfying tactile variation in the scroll wheel. Yet, I noticed a slight flex in the left and right buttons when untouched, especially on the right side. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s there.

The side buttons have a bit of a pivoting issue, but it’s only noticeable when you press away from the center. Still, they remain responsive, and even under intense force, they stay well within the shell.

I spent extra time on the primary buttons addressing the frequently criticized features. While they might not be flawless technically, my day-to-day use has been smooth, proving their reliability after a thorough trial. Customizing these RGB zones with Glorious’s software is a breeze; the results are crisp and vibrant.

Quality Control Improvements (Image By Tech4Gamers)

Having spent some quality time with the Glorious Model D Minus, I’ve got to say it’s a design marvel that ticks all the boxes for me. Aesthetically, it’s not your typical esports mouse trying to hide its RGB illumination. The honeycomb shell, instead of hindering it, opens up a world of customization, giving a polished and fascinating look.

When it comes to RGB, this mouse doesn’t hold back. With three distinct lighting zones – the scroll wheel and two RGB strips on the side panels – it’s a visual treat. What caught my eye is how the illumination fills out the entire mouse, making even the sensor and internal components visible, creating a soft glow.

Now, let’s talk quality. Given Glorious’s track record, I was skeptical, but the Model D Minus proved its mettle during my stress tests over a few weeks. No bending, no squeaking – just a solid, premium feel. They weren’t just talking; they’ve genuinely stepped up their quality control game.

The “Ascended Cable” is a game-changer. It’s so pliable and lightweight that it’s almost like the mouse is wireless. No need for third-party modifications here. And is there an option for additional colored ascend cords? That’s a nice touch for personalizing the mouse even further.

Glorious seems to be making strides in a world where not every company delivers flawlessly, and the Model D Minus has won me over with its aesthetics, performance, and attention to detail.

The four G-Skate wheels deliver a smooth and effortless ride right out of the box. These stock feet are top-notch, but I’ll admit, it took me a bit to adjust to their responsiveness. Including two extra, larger feet for customization is a nice touch, and the quirky blue “remove” stickers add a touch of fun to the package.

Functionality-wise, this mouse is a beast in FPS games. The Pixart PMW 3360 sensor excels at low DPI settings, providing precise and dependable performance. The PTFE feet, though, are the unsung heroes, elevating the overall experience with portability, ergonomic design, sensor sensitivity, stability, and ultra-responsive switches.

PRO TIP: If the Glorious D-Minus has customizable lighting features, consider adjusting or turning off RGB lighting to conserve battery life. This is especially important for prolonged gaming sessions.

While I couldn’t find any glaring flaws, the DPI indicator’s placement underneath might be inconvenient for those who frequently toggle between settings. The notched scroll wheel is a game-changer for FPS enthusiasts like myself, offering distinct inputs for weapon switching without any accidental commands.

One standout improvement is the cable design. Compared to braided fabric, it feels more supple and unrestricted. No more worries about connection issues – this upgrade is noticeable in my day-to-day use. Overall, the Glorious Model D Minus has truly lived up to its hype in my firsthand experience, combining style, functionality, and thoughtful design.

Software Support

Glorious Model D Software
Model D Minus Software

After diving into the software experiences of both Glorious mice, the Model D stands out with its straightforward one-window interface. Customizing key bindings, macros, DPI settings, and lighting is a breeze.

The Glorious Model D-‘s software adds an extra layer of user-friendliness, featuring a customizable debounce duration for precise and rapid clicking. The dual DPI sliders for horizontal and vertical movement offer flexibility, and the RGB customization options are a delight – a true spectrum of colors and effects.

Even the DPI indicator light on the bottom can be personalized, adding a nice touch. Shifting gears to the Glorious Model D Minus, its software doesn’t disappoint. Adjusting luminance and sensitivity is a cinch, making it a seamless experience.

However, it’s important to note that Model O’s software differs and requires a separate installation. While both mice excel with Windows, macOS users miss out on specific features like button rebinding and LED color changes.

One downside I encountered was the inability to link profiles to specific applications or games. Model D’s lack of internal memory means profiles can’t be easily transferred unless manually exported. Despite these minor hitches, the software experiences on both mice have been largely positive and user-friendly in my firsthand exploration.

WARNING: Although designed for durability, avoid excessive force or rough handling to prevent damage to the Glorious D-Minus. Treat the mouse with care to extend its lifespan.

Should You Buy It?

Before I close this review, let me clarify who should consider buying this product and who should not buy it:

Buy It If:

✅ You seek a Lightweight Ergonomics: The low weight of the Glorious Model D Minus makes it one of the most ergonomically friendly gaming mice available, offering a comfortable experience for extended gaming sessions.

✅ You are a professional with diverse software needs: The high DPI level of the mouse is beneficial for editing and other software applications, catering to professionals who require precision and responsiveness in their work.

✅ You prioritize aesthetic RGB preferences: Users who prioritize aesthetic setups will appreciate the customizable RGB lighting, well-diffused illumination, and mouse-specialized skates, enhancing the visual appeal of their gaming or workstations.

Don’t Buy It If

❌ You want a heavier mouse: Individuals who prefer heavier mice for increased efficiency may find the lightweight nature of the Glorious Model D Minus less suitable for their work environments.

❌ You have concerns about Durability: If you prioritize durability over extremely lightweight design, you may have reservations about the mouse’s fragility, especially when compared to sturdier alternatives.

❌ You have specific software requirements on macOS: Mac users, particularly those on macOS, should note that certain features like button rebinding and LED color changes are not accessible, limiting customization options compared to the Windows counterpart.

Final Verdict

Based on my experience, Glorious PC Gaming Race has crafted the Model D Minus, prioritizing fundamental features like comfort, solidity, and reliable performance. While minor issues like button jiggle and a visible DPI indicator exist, the mouse’s accessible pricing distinguishes it from competitors with similar functionality.

The anticipated enhancements, such as improved quality control and a robust shell, contribute to a positive user experience. Although the Model D Minus might not introduce groundbreaking innovations, its consistent performance, lightweight design, and reasonable cost make it a commendable choice for budget-conscious gamers.

In choosing between the Model O Minus and Model D Minus, comfort plays a pivotal role, accommodating various hand sizes and grip preferences. The Model D- provides weight savings compared to the Model D, offering options for users accustomed to different sizes and shapes. My firsthand experience with the Glorious Model D Minus affirms its ability to meet essential gaming requirements at an attractive price point, appealing to a broad spectrum of gamers.
