Nvidia had to unlaunched GeForce RTX 4080 12GB because of the backlash it received from the community after the announcement.
Thanks to reliable leaker @Kopite7kimi now we know that GeForce RTX 4080 12GB will be rebranded to GeForce RTX 4070 Ti instead.
The original RTX 4080 12GB will become RTX 4070 Ti instead.

It was previously reported that the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB would become the GeForce RTX 4070 and Nvidia will use a cut-down version of its original GPU die because every non-Ti SKU from Nvidia is based on a cut-down variant of GPU core, but as it turns out, the rebranded GeForce RTX 4080 12GB will be based on a full AD104 GPU die.
Regarding specs, the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will come equipped with 12GB of GDDR6X memory and 7680 CUDA Cores. There is no information on the price of the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, but it is expected to be much lower than the RTX 4080.
Nvidia should also rethink its strategy for pricing the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. Because not only will the GPU be compared to its bigger brother, the GeForce RTX 4080, but the recently launched Radeon RX 7000 series will also be giving it a tough time in terms of price and performance.
As for when Nvidia will launch the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, well, according to @Kopite7kimi, the GPU is expected to launch early next year, and we might see it on shelves as soon as January 2023.

Nvidia has also been getting a lot of bad press, mainly because of its new 12-pin power connector on GeForce RTX 4090. Currently, green camp is investigating the issue, so we might also see Nvidia returning to the regular PCIe power connectors on its mid rang models like the RTX 4070 Ti.
