During the SILENT HILL Transmission event, Konami announced that Silent Hill 2 Remake would be released for PC and PlayStation 5 – with 12-month console exclusivity.
As previously rumored, the game is being developed by Bloober Team, the Polish developer responsible for titles like Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, Observer, and The Medium. As mentioned in the event video, Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are involved in the project and collaborating closely with Bloober Team.
The Silent Hill 2 Remake will feature a new music style and sound design. The main director is Mateusz Lenart (creative director of The Medium), and the gameplay will feature an over-the-shoulder camera and various modern gameplay aspects.
Mateusz Lenart, creative director and lead designer at Bloober Team, said in a post on the PlayStation Blog that
“one of our primary goals is to preserve the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 so exceptional, while also modernizing many aspects of the game’s overall gameplay.”
