The PlayStation 5 is quickly approaching its second anniversary. Sony’s latest console was originally released in 2020 and has seen a lot of success since then. PlayStation 5 led the highest dollar sales in the United States last month, despite Sony’s struggle with supply shortages.

Supply shortages and economic conditions have been a constant challenge for Sony. The gaming giant has struggled to keep up with demand, and the PlayStation 5 has recently seen a price hike in various regions

Despite the supply issues, Sony will launch a new revision(CFI-1200) for the PlayStation 5. This information comes from Japanese retailers getting ready to launch the latest models. The new models will be sold from September 15, 2022.

Sony has already released a revision for the PlayStation 5. The last model made minor changes to the console. The CFI-1100 model saw a weight reduction of about 300 grams while also changing the heatsink. The console’s base screw was also replaced with a thumb screw.

Moreover, a rumor has suggested that the new revision could bring bigger changes to Sony’s console. PlayStation 5 could move to AMD’s 6nm process; this would help Sony’s constant struggle with supply shortages and costs.

A new process node would also help the console with overall efficiency. Sony’s latest console is not known for being the coolest, so this would be a nice upgrade for new users. General gaming performance will remain the same across all models.

However, Sony has not commented on the changes in the new revision yet. It remains to be seen if PlayStation 5 will be switching to AMD’s 6nm process, but fans will not be waiting much longer to learn more.

The new models will hit Japanese shelves in just a few weeks. Not much is currently known about this revision, but the prospect of AMD’s 6nm process certainly gives fans something to look forward to. Sony could finally be on the verge of solving their supply issues, just in time for big releases like God of War Ragnarok.
