Only a few months remain until the Tokyo Game Show 2022, and many well-known companies, like Microsoft (Xbox), Capcom, Square Enix, and others, will be present.

However, one of the big names is still missing from the list. Yes, you guessed it, it seems like Sony won’t be making an appearance in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.

This is not the first time Sony appears to be skipping a sizable event; Sony also recently withdrew from the upcoming Gamescom 2022 event.

So what’s going on here? We know a lot of Sony fans were expecting Sony to make an appearance in the forthcoming Tokyo Game show 2022, especially since Xbox will be present there and Sony often goes head to head against Xbox.

However, it feels like things are starting to change. State of Play digital event by Sony was a huge success with over 2.5 million views, creating a lot of hype for the upcoming Sony titles. Although Sony’s absence from these important live events has disappointed fans, it indicates that Sony is simply more focused on their upcoming State of Play showcase.

Moreover, Sony will likely reveal more information about God of War Ragnorak in greater detail soon which is officially announced to be  released on November 9th.

Does this mean Sony will be focused on Digital events from now on? The recent trend of Sony backing off live events indicates that we can expect Sony to follow the trend if they find more success with their upcoming State of Play.

What are your thoughts? What do you think Sony is up to? Do you think they will stick to fully digital events only from now on?
