Story Highlight
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is finally coming later this year.
  • A total of 8 studios helped develop the title.
  • This is similar to last year’s release, though Activision seems to have added one more studio to the mix this time.

After many recent rumors and leaks, Activision finally announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 last week. Following the announcement, more information about the title will be revealed at the COD Direct, which will take place on June 9th.

While it was said that Treyarch and Raven Software would be the main teams behind this Call of Duty entry, they are receiving support from various other developers. A total of 8 studios worked on the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Why it matters: Activision does not like to have its teams busy on other projects since the Call of Duty franchise is too big. Therefore, the gaming giant ensures everyone supports Call of Duty.

Eight Studios Are Working To Bring The Latest Call of Duty To Life.

While Treyarch developed the original Black Ops franchise, Raven Software is another big studio involved in recent entries like Cold War.

According to Steam, Sledgehammer Games, the core developers behind the Call of Duty release last year, is also taking part in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 development, along with Infinity Ward.

Support studios include Beenox, High Moon Studios, Activision Shanghai, and Demonware. Therefore, when added up, a whopping eight teams are coming together to ensure Activision can continue to put out games for this series each year.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 received a similar treatment, as around 7 developers worked on the title last year.

This will also be the first Call of Duty launch since Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard. The title is officially announced to be coming to Game Pass on day one, launching to a platform with millions of players.

Therefore, there is more at stake than ever before. With eight studios combining their talents and skills, Activision hopes to deliver a polished experience from the get-go.

However, this cannot be guaranteed since last year’s Modern Warfare 3 failed to justify its $70 price tag due to recycled content and a poor campaign.
