Mobile gaming is becoming increasingly famous as giants like PlayStation, Xbox, and Take-Two are exploring the market. A F2P mobile version of the famous Elden Ring is also said to be in development.
It has been two years since Take-Two completely acquired Zynga, a powerhouse in the mobile industry. The publisher bought it to port its biggest IPs to mobile phones, but it still hasn’t figured out how.
However, the publisher confirms it still intends to bring its franchises to mobile platforms.
Why it matters: Mobile gaming is growing at a tremendous rate, and it’s changing the whole gaming industry.
At the TD Cowen conference, the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, doubled down on releasing the company’s biggest IPs on mobile. Zelnick was asked whether they have made any progress towards this goal or if it is still a part of their plan.
Zelnick explained how the company aims to act in this regard. Given his passion, it almost seems like the CEO was expecting this question.
I would love to be able to announce a successful mobile title based on legacy Take-Two IP, and I’m pretty sure we’ll be able to do it.

Zelnick also admits how hard it is to release an IP on mobile and for it to be successful.
He then reveals that people often say to do what Call of Duty Mobile has done, but according to him, this franchise is a superset, and Take-Two’s IPs can’t compared with it in this regard.
The mobile platform has become extremely important for the company ever since it acquired Zynga. Since then, it has been trying to figure out a way of expanding further into mobile gaming.
The CEO has claimed that making a hit mobile game is still in the pipeline. However, it seems like Zelnick is a little concerned over possible failures, as the mobile industry tends to be more complicated.
Zelnick has shown firm resolve, so we look forward to seeing Take-Two break into this segment of the industry.
