- Ghost of Tsushima requires a PlayStation account for multiplayer.
- While the single-player can be played without an account, Sony has delisted the game in countries without PlayStation support.
- Some fans are planning to boycott the game after this sudden move.
Ghost of Tsushima is set to require a PlayStation account for multiplayer gameplay. While this is hardly a big problem, third-party key sellers recently began refunding the game due to the sudden announcement from Sony.
Less than 24 hours later, Sony seems to have made drastic changes of its own. Much like Helldivers 2, the gaming giant has delisted Ghost of Tsushima from over 170 countries, with no way for non-PlayStation-supported regions to buy the PC port.
Why it matters: PlayStation is not supported worldwide, making this a major problem for all future ports.
As before, we can confirm that Ghost of Tsushima is no longer available for purchase in our region. This was not the case until yesterday when the game was still available for pre-order.
It seems odd for Sony to make such a drastic decision based on a single multiplayer mode. Ghost of Tsushima is, by all means, a single-player title where the multiplayer serves as an add-on.
It would be reasonable to assume that most fans would not mind missing out on this inclusion. Following the delisting, Sony has seemingly created another wave of negativity for its upcoming PC port.
Some fans are even planning to boycott the game.
Perhaps the most disappointing part of this situation is the fact that Ghost of Tsushima was close to Steam’s top 10 best-selling games. There was clearly a lot of anticipation for the PC port, so Sony seems to be shooting itself in the foot again.
God of War Ragnarok is expected to be the next PC port. However, this move could harm all future ports, leading to a lack of trust among PC gamers.
PlayStation has yet to comment on this situation. Like last week, the game has been delisted over the weekend, so an official response may not arrive until Monday.
It is also important to note that Sony has not been able to relist Helldivers 2 in all regions yet. Arrowhead has confirmed attempts to do so, but it seems Sony’s PC problems have just grown even bigger.
