However, a report hints that AI integration will play an even bigger role in Xbox’s future than expected. According to sources, Xbox is working on an AI chatbot.
Why it matters: AI has long been considered the next step forward for gaming. This technology is already making its way into gaming through such initiatives.
As stated by The Verge, Xbox’s chatbot has already been in the works for a while.
Microsoft envisions this chatbot as a virtual assistant that could eventually handle all Xbox customer queries. The chatbot is said to be represented by an animated character, giving it more life than a basic AI agent.
Xbox believes this will help it solve queries more efficiently, becoming beneficial to both customers and manufacturers. It even states that the chatbot will help with hardware-related problems.
Microsoft appears to be taking inspiration from the popular ChatGPT. This technology has improved rapidly since its inception, garnering praise from tech giants like Nvidia and Tesla.
Elsewhere, Sony appears to be experimenting with AI in its own ways. The PS5 Pro is rumored to be using machine learning for the proprietary PSSR upscaling, allowing the console to offer better image quality.
All in all, it seems AI will be a major part of console gaming moving forward. However, since many of these projects are currently prototypes, the industry might not be able to offer full support until the next generation of consoles arrives.
