Story Highlight
  • Stellar Blade will officially release on April 26.
  • Before release, a demo has been made available, which has already won fans over.
  • Fans have praised nearly all parts of the game, including its gameplay, visuals, and more.

Stellar Blade is one of the most promising PlayStation exclusives this year. Many people have already taken an interest in the game as it seems to take the best of Devil May Cry, Nier, Sekiro, and more.

The game is scheduled for launch on April 26, but a free demo is now available for all PS5 owners to try. Following the recent demo, Stellar Blade’s hands-on impressions are extremely positive.

Why it matters: PlayStation has an uncharacteristically dry year ahead in terms of first-party content. However, SHIFT UP’s latest release promises to keep fans busy as they wait for the first-party output next year.

Previously, the same demo was preemptively released on the PS5 before being taken down.

Impressions were already positive at the time, and the new wave of players has only solidified the opinions. Stellar Blade’s soundtrack, visuals, performance, boss fights, combat, and overall gameplay have been receiving a lot of praise from fans.

As expected, the combat has much more to offer than players will initially see. The game also appears to be moderately challenging, straying away from the punishing nature of its inspirations.

Sekiro is often considered the hardest FromSoftware game, so the game is borrowing everything from its inspiration. Another Twitter user stated that he canceled the preorder after trying the demo.

Instead, the user is now willing to buy the Deluxe Edition.

This shows that Stellar Blade is shaping up to be one of the best hack-and-slash games in many years.

With AAA developers having all but abandoned this genre, SHIFT UP’s approach is a breath of fresh air. The combat is so good, in fact, that many players are already spending time getting to grips with these mechanics for higher-level gameplay.

Developer SHIFT Up could not have asked for a better start. The studio seems to have landed on an exciting hack-and-slash title, refining the formula with bits and pieces from the best that the industry has to offer.

Twitter/X is currently full of tweets of praise for the overall gameplay mechanics, visuals, performance, and, of course, the main character. We have yet to try the demo, but it is definitely on our to-do list.

With Stellar Blade less than a month away, it won’t be long before everyone gets a chance to experience this hack-and-slash offering in all its glory.
