  • Warner Bros seemingly had high expectations for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
  • The company states that this live-service title fell short of expectations.
  • No sales update was provided on the game, and Warner Bros expects a tough year for its gaming segment.

Suicide Squad promised to be the ultimate superhero live-service game. However, it failed to live up to Batman Arkham’s legacy, with users expressing their dissatisfaction through thousands of negative reviews.

Warner Bros has finally commented on the game for the first time since its late January launch. According to the company, this looter shooter performed below expectations on the market.

Why it matters: This outcome was not surprising since many already expected the game to add another failure to the risky live service genre.

Warner Bros recently released its quarterly financial earnings report. This was followed by a conference call where the publisher addressed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

In addition to less than stellar sales figures, Warner Bros confirmed that its gaming business is not looking the most promising for the rest of 2024, primarily due to the failure of this major release.

For now, the company remains in a comfortable position. Hogwarts Legacy was last year’s best-selling release, and it continues to drive impressive revenue for the publisher amid ongoing success.

In the future, the publisher might look toward early discounts and major promotions for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. While the game continues to lose players rapidly, this could help it make a comeback.

Although the narrative elements of this entry are not terrible, it fails to move away from a repetitive loop, further worsened by mostly uninspired mission design. Overall, fans have found themselves disappointed after Rocksteady Studios set a high bar with past games.

For this reason, many have returned to Batman Arkham Knight instead of this title.

The future of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League remains uncertain, but the game could use subscriptions, free weekends, and future DLC to attempt a comeback.

While Rocksteady Studios is currently busy supporting the game and releasing updates, Warner Bros’ statement implies that it does not see much comeback potential in the looter shooter for now.
