- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is targeting 60FPS on all platforms.
- The Xbox Series X and PS5 will run the game at 4K 120FPS.
- On PC, a GTX 1060 will be enough to aim for 4K 60FPS.
A new Prince of Persia release is just days away. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is revisiting the IP’s roots, returning to the side-scroller DNA that made this series so popular in the first place.
While the initial reception of the game was quite negative on YouTube, the minimum system requirements and resolution targets for each console are much more promising. Ubisoft confirms the PS5 and Xbox Series X run the game at 4K 120FPS.
Why it matters: The latest consoles from PlayStation and Xbox, while technically capable of achieving this ambitious target, seldom reach 4K 120FPS, so this is a nice change of pace for console gamers.
Ubisoft confirms the Xbox Series X and PS5 will offer the best experience. However, the game aims for 60FPS across all platforms, even the weaker Nintendo Switch.
The Xbox Series S and PS4 Pro also offer higher than 1080p gameplay, aiming for 1440p and 4K at 60FPS, respectively. Over on PC, the game is equally light on requirements, asking for the seven-year-old GTX 1060 for 4K 60FPS.
Since 2D side-scrollers rarely push the boundaries of visuals, such results were already expected. Still, this should mean that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be responsive and smooth on all systems, something that is essential for platforms requiring precise movements.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will take up around 30GB of storage, asking for a GTX 950 for 1080p 60FPS gameplay on PC. Interestingly, Ubisoft mentions SSD storage in its official requirements, so it remains to be seen whether the game will run well on traditional HDDs.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be available from 15 January.
Ahead of the release date, Ubisoft will release a free demo on 11 January, allowing players to relive the nostalgia of this IP without any additional purchase. For those who enjoy the demo, the final game will offer around 20 hours of platforming, bosses, and puzzles.
