- Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the biggest releases of the year.
- Larian previously confirmed the game would arrive on the Xbox Series S|X before the end of 2023.
- A leaker has suggested that Larian is targeting 6 December as its current release date for the Xbox ports.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is the highest-rated game of 2023, with a 96/100 score on Metacritic. The game has impressed millions of players across PC and PS5, but Xbox Series S|X users are still waiting for this genre-defining RPG.
Though the studio previously confirmed that the game would be released on Xbox before the end of the year, no new updates have been provided as of early November. However, a leaker claims Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive on Xbox Series S|X on 6 December.
Why it matters: As one of the biggest and most surprising games of the year, the RPG’s release on Xbox has been awaited by millions of users who prefer Microsoft’s platform.
As reported by eXputer, Baldur’s Gate 3 will arrive on the Xbox platform next month. Their sources have claimed that this is the date Larian is targeting for the port.
However, there is still a possibility of a delay till late December if things do not go as planned. The source suggests that a delay could push the game as far back as early 2024 in the worst-case scenario, but Larian has remained adamant that it will be able to finish the port before the year ends.
Though the developers previously expected the RPG to head to Xbox Series S|X between September and November, this appears to no longer be the plan. Fortunately, Swen Vincke recently confirmed that playtesting for this version of Baldur’s Gate 3 had already begun.
He is still hopeful that the team will be able to complete the release before the end of 2023. Going by the leaker’s previous track record, we believe that this date will likely prove to be accurate next month, providing another excellent RPG for Xbox fans after Starfield.
While many games have come out since Baldur’s Gate 3 exploded in popularity, it averaged 200K players on Steam until recently. Following its PlayStation release, it also became the 2nd most downloaded game on the platform.
We expect to see a similar, if not better, reception for the RPG once it eventually joins the Xbox ecosystem. Besides ports for Microsoft’s consoles, Larian is also working on a new game, leaving several developers behind to support Baldur’s Gate 3 in the meantime.
