According to a new report, the rumored GeForce RTX 40 Super series from Nvidia might not require more power. Reliable leaker kopite7kimi expects the same power requirements for both the GeForce RTX 4080 Super and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super as their predecessors.

The GeForce RTX 4070 Super is expected to see a 20W increase in TDP, while the GeForce RTX 4080 Super and GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super will have the same TDP at 320W and 285W, respectively.

The expected power draw for GeForce RTX 40 Super reported by kopite7kimi is only accurate for the Nvidia Founders Edition cards, which do require less power compared to AIB partners.

While custom high-end models for GPUs like the GeForce RTX 4090 can easily exceed the 450W TDP running at a higher frequency to achieve more performance than spec, Nvidia’s Founders Edition is limited to 450W.

It is important to note that the presence of the GeForce RTX 40 Super series is purely based on speculation. However, there is a lot of information regarding its specifications.

Previous rumors suggest the GeForce RTX 4080 Super will feature 20 GB of memory based on the AD103 GPU. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super is expected to feature 16 GB of memory based on the AD102 GPU, and the GeForce RTX 4070 Super might feature the same 12GB of memory based on the AD104 GPU.

In terms of performance, we should expect the GeForce RTX 4080 Super to perform like the GeForce RTX 4090. However, the lower TDP might keep it well below the flagship Nvidia card’s performance.

Among the rumored models, the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super might not see the light of day. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is already an upgrade over the GeForce RTX 4070, and combining the Ti and Super SKUs could lead to confusion and controversy in the future.

Nonetheless, we are hoping for an official announcement from Nvidia soon. There is a lot of ambiguity about the future of the GeForce RTX 4000 lineup for now, so an announcement could provide more clarity about future releases.
