The Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT launched one week ago, with the latter nearly selling out on Newegg within 24 hours. Following these releases, prices have been slashed across the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070, making it more competitive.

The graphics card is currently selling for $550.

The recently launched Radeon RX 7800 XT from AMD has been quite a successful card launch. Not only was the card almost sold out, but it received tons of positive reviews, which has become a rarity in recent months.

The Radeon RX 7800 XT, on average, is around 4-8% faster than the GeForce RTX 4070, depending on the resolution. However, what sets it apart from its competition is the MSRP. The Radeon RX 7800XT, while costing $100 less, not only beats its competition but offers more video memory at 16 GB.

With everything going in the favor of AMD, the GeForce RTX 4070 has seen a price drop below MSRP. The current variants on sale include the Zotac Gaming and Gigabyte WindForce graphics cards. However, these are still more expensive than the $500 Radeon RX 7800 XT.

Nonetheless, there are certain advantages to picking the GeForce RTX 4070. It offers exclusive features like DLSS 3 frame generation and superior upscaling technology compared to AMD FSR2.

Furthermore, the GeForce RTX 4070 is a more power-efficient graphics card at 200W, compared to 263W on the Radeon RX 7800 XT. However, such advantages would have stood out better at the same $500 price point.

Even with the current price drop, the GeForce RTX 4070 may not be an attractive product compared to the competition for many. AMD has also bundled copies of Starfield with its recent graphics cards, making it an even more enticing purchase.

It should be noted the price drop does not come from Nvidia. Instead, it looks like the decision has been made by suppliers to ensure customers are encouraged to try the GeForce RTX 4070.
