Final Fantasy 16 brings an engaging narrative and takes inspiration from action games to deliver a thrilling gameplay experience. This blend of RPGs and action games has allowed the game to gain popularity, selling over 3 million units.
Its success has also enabled Creative Business Unit 3 to provide more support for the game. The studio had already considered future DLC in the past, and Naoki Yoshida has officially confirmed that two DLC packs are now in development.
In addition to the announcement about DLC, his recent message confirms that Square Enix and Creative Business Unit 3 have begun work on the game’s PC port.
Why it matters: The studio has begun work on the PC port quite early, and this should provide ample time for a competent release on the platform.

Following the game’s release, the latest video from Naoki Yoshida addresses the responses and reactions to Final Fantasy 16.
The Producer has addressed feedback from the players and confirms new additions to the game through a free update. Such additions include new control schemes and costumes for the playable characters.
Moving on to the subject of a PC release, Naoki Yoshida stated:
“Allow me to take this opportunity to officially announce that development on a PC version is currently underway.”
The development of a PC port is not surprising, but fans will be glad that work on the port has already begun.
PC gaming has seen a plethora of poor ports this year, so it is great to see the studio beginning work on the port four months before the PS5 timed-exclusivity window expires.
The Producer has also stated that a PC port would require several months of work since the game caters to the unique hardware properties of the PS5 console.
Furthermore, the Producer has confirmed two paid DLC packs for the game. He elaborated that development of the DLC packs has already begun following the demand for more content.
While talking about the release of the PC version and the two paid DLCs, Naoki Yoshida further said:
“I hope to be able to give you more information on both the upcoming downloadable content and the PC version before the end of the year.”
Final Fantasy 16 is expected to arrive on PC in 2024, and this release will open the game up to a large audience.
This should mean that the next year will be one to look forward to for fans of the iconic JRPG series. In addition to the highly anticipated PC release, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is also expected to be released in 2024.
