Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the year’s biggest first-party title for PlayStation users. With multiple playable characters, iconic villains like Kraven and Venom, and a whole new console generation, fans have plenty of reason to be excited.
As with any new game release, fans have been curious to learn more. This curiosity also extends to information about the game’s resolution and frame rate target. While Insomniac Games is yet to comment, the game’s PSN page has revealed the information.
As spotted by members on Resetera, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 offers a quality and performance mode, with the latter targeting 60FPS at upscaled 4K.
Why it matters: PlayStation has done a great job with performance modes over the last few years. The information confirms Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is no exception.
According to the PSN page, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features two modes for different users.
This allows users to pursue higher graphical fidelity or a smoother experience. The quality mode runs at 30FPS and enables ray tracing. Unlike the performance mode, it runs at a 4K base resolution.
Unfortunately, the exact resolution of performance mode is unknown. Therefore, it is difficult to judge the rendering resolution with the limited information available at hand. Still, fans will be glad to know that 60FPS is not being left out.
Previously, Insomniac Games offered a 60FPS mode with ray tracing options. This does not appear to be the case for the studio’s latest project, but the developer could add the ray tracing performance mode in a future patch at a later date.
In addition to various graphical options, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will feature a map twice the size of the original, as Brooklyn and Queen will be included in the sequel. Insomniac Games has also added free switching between Peter and Miles to expand the gameplay options.
