The Walking Dead is one of the most iconic series, with over ten seasons. The series has also had a few spin-off shows, with the latest being the ongoing show, The Walking Dead: Dead City.

Five of the six episodes have already aired, and many have noticed a strong resemblance in the show’s last episode. The Walking Dead: Dead City appears to have looked at The Last of Us Part 2 as inspiration for its fifth episode.

Why it matters: Both franchises have a similar theme, being set in a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies. The Last of Us franchise has also become popular over the last few years.

As seen above, both zombies look extremely similar, and most comments appear to agree with this sentiment. However, the similarities are not limited to the zombie’s appearance. 

During the 5th episode, Maggie fights this zombie, the Walker King. This might sound familiar to players who have played The Last of Us Part 2. While playing as Abby, players have to face the Rat King in the hospital basement.

While the similarities between the two are obvious, Lauren Cohan addressed the character in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. The actress stated:

“It’s based on an idea of how rats sort of tangle their tails and become a Rat King.”

Looking at the characters, it is not far-fetched to believe that The Walking Dead took inspiration from Naughty Dog’s latest title.

While The Last of Us franchise was previously famous as a game, the recent Tv show adaptation has become a massive hit with an average of 32 million viewers for each episode.

Season 2 has also been confirmed, so Naughty Dog’s rendition of the Rat King will soon be coming to television.
