Ubisoft has focused all development efforts on the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The studio has 11 titles in development, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage coming this year. A previous report has also hinted that Assassin’s Creed Red is scheduled for 2024.
This game will bring the franchise back to the RPG formula, potentially introducing two playable characters in the Japanese setting. According to a recent LinkedIn post, Ubisoft believes Assassin’s Creed Red will be the biggest blockbuster of 2024.
Why it matters: Fans have long been waiting for an Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan. However, games like Ghost of Tsushima have exceeded expectations, so Ubisoft must offer an even better game to impress audiences.
The post was created by Arisa Lagunzad from Ubisoft, who aims to seek sponsorships for the franchise. Arisa Lagunzad said:
“Do you want to partner with the biggest blockbuster for 2024?”
This means Ubisoft is likely hoping to release the game next year. A 2024 release window also aligns with a reliable leaker’s previous report.
This is also a bold claim from Ubisoft. The next year is expected to deliver massive games like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Marvel’s Wolverine, and more. Therefore, Ubisoft will have no shortage of competition.
However, the developer appears to be confident in the upcoming title. The LinkedIn post also hints at different media adaptations for Assassin’s Creed Red. As such, fans could see a manga series based on the game.
Fans should note the particular statement hinting at a 2024 release has now been deleted from the LinkedIn post.
This provides more evidence about Ubisoft’s target release window. Additionally, Ubisoft is working on Assassin’s Creed Hexe. The game is expected to be set in the 16th century, and the studio believes it will leave a lasting mark on the franchise.
