Red Dead Redemption was recently rated in Korea. While the game had already received a rating many years ago, the latest update provides a few notable differences, which has sparked hope for a potential remaster.
Following the recent news, Colin Moriarty from Sacred Symbols reports he has heard about a remaster for Red Dead Redemption.
Why it matters: Red Dead Redemption is one of Rockstar’s biggest IPs. Despite its popularity, modern PlayStation consoles and PCs do not have a native version for fans who have not played the title.
Twitter aside, according to @longislandviper on Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast, Colin has heard rumblings about Red Dead Redemption remaster from sources.
I cannot share the podcast until it’s made public, cheers @GTAman51 for giving me a heads up on it! pic.twitter.com/KvWuHvPO0y

The podcast is available for Patreon members, but Twitter users have quickly shared Colin Moriarty’s information.
Colin has been involved in the gaming industry for over a decade, previously working for IGN as a journalist. He also reports on various details about upcoming titles before official reveals.
In addition to Colin’s reports, various Twitter users have found several other pieces of information about the potential Red Dead Redemption remaster. The new rating mentions body damage not included in the original game.
The body damage appears similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, hinting that Rockstar may integrate a few of the sequel’s systems in the remaster. Additionally, Kotaku reports that Rockstar is aware of the demand for a remaster.
Previous reports claimed that Rockstar canceled plans to bring the franchise back after the poor reception of the GTA Trilogy. However, the gaming giant may have seen a lucrative market for remasters and remakes.
Games like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Metroid Prime Remastered, and Dead Space Remake have performed well in 2023. The nostalgia factor in these games provides plenty of incentive for companies to revisit older titles.
Rockstar has also slowed down with new releases in recent years, supporting existing titles for several years. Therefore, a remaster for an iconic release would allow the developer to please fans without sacrificing long-term support for recent titles.
It should be noted that Rockstar worked with Grove Street Games for the GTA Trilogy remasters. However, the developer is no longer collaborating with Rockstar, so fans should not be too concerned about the quality of a potential Red Dead Redemption remaster.
Meanwhile, Rockstar is also busy working on GTA 6. Following an unexpected leak from 2022, fans have already seen early footage of the title. However, Rockstar is yet to share official information, but Take-Two expects the game to release by 2024 or 2025.
