The performance of the GeForce RTX 4060 has been tested by a few reviewers, but the performance results cannot be shared due to an embargo. That being said, Nvidia has allowed reviewers to share a few results before the embargo.
Compared to the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB, the GeForce RTX 4060 brings 22.8% more performance to the table in 3DMark. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 3060 with 8 GB memory is around 47.9% slower due to its lower memory bandwidth and size.
Reviewer JayzTwoCents also tested the performance of the upcoming GPU in a single game. The GeForce RTX 4060 was put through its paces in a demanding game like Cyberpunk 2077, giving us a detailed look into the performance.
With every option cranked up, the GeForce RTX 4060 achieved an average FPS of around 81. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 3060 could only reach 64FPS.
While the upcoming GPU looks appealing, users should note that it does not come without a downside. It is limited to 8GB of memory compared to 12GB on the GeForce RTX 3060. Still, the new mid-range offering has perks like DLSS 3.0 and AV1 support.
Nvidia’s upcoming launch is also quite energy efficient compared to its predecessor. For reference, the new GPU tops out at 100W TDP. However, the GeForce RTX 3060 had a maximum TDP of 170W.
This should result in better temperatures and lower power costs for users who want the most performance without sacrificing efficiency. Therefore, the mid-range graphics card is shaping up to be a good card for its price if users can look past the memory limitations.
Furthermore, the GeForce RTX 4060 seems to be also available across major retailers for its $300 MSRP. This is great as a graphics card with 110W of TDP would not need a lot of cooling.
