Starfield is undoubtedly the most awaited game of the year for Microsoft and Xbox. Being the first new IP from developers Bethesda Game Studios in over two decades, the game has immense potential.
Following the Starfield Direct, the game’s hype is already at an all-time high. Despite being months away from its launch on September 6, Starfield is now the best-selling game on Steam.
Why It Matters: The fact that the game is among the top sellers demonstrates the immense hype surrounding it and the excitement from fans eagerly awaiting the game’s release.
The top-sellers list is followed by Cyberpunk 2077, which is also set to get a massive overhaul with the upcoming Phantom Liberty. The third spot is taken by the recently released Street Fighter 6, which was previously the best-selling game on the platform.
Before the recent achievement, Starfield was the most wish-listed game on Steam. However, the latest gameplay and deep dive appear to have convinced PC users to buy the game months in advance.
The latest footage showed how the game has been improved compared to last year and its current polish.
Starfield’s system requirements were also updated, with the game requiring an SSD and a whopping 125GB of storage. This makes sense considering the game’s scope.
Starfield is set to feature over 1000 explorable planets, each unique and distinctive in terms of location and life. The game is also inspired by every Sci-Fi TV show and movie.
Starfield Direct further revealed that the game would run at a locked 30FPS on Xbox Series consoles, with the Xbox Series X running at 4k resolution and the budget console at 1440p. Overall, Starfield is showing great promise for its launch and has the potential to become one of Xbox’s most cherished IPs.
