Previously, Resident Evil Village had sold more than 6.4 million units by June 2022. Earlier this year, the number was said to be around 7 million. As such, more than two years after the game’s release, it is still steadily moving toward further success.
Resident Evil Village includes an exceptional atmosphere with impressive visuals and first-person gameplay mechanics. However, new characters like Lady Dimitrescu also helped make the game even more popular.
Following Resident Evil Village, Capcom worked on Resident Evil 4 Remake. The Remake saw similar success and sold over 3.7 million copies in less than three months.
The Resident Evil franchise has been essential to the survival-horror genre and has also become Capcom’s best-selling series, reaching over 142 million sales worldwide.
With this success, Capcom will likely continue to invest in future Resident Evil titles. Recent rumors have pointed to future Resident Evil games, and Capcom has also asked fans about potential future remakes.
