More footage and information for the game are expected to arrive tomorrow at the PlayStation Showcase, but a new rumor before the reveal appears to be teasing a focus on horror elements for Spider-Man 2.

The information comes from fans who claim to have interacted with the voice actors for the upcoming title. One fan claims that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a lot darker than the previous game.
With Venom being a huge focus and the main antagonist for the sequel, it is not too far-fetched to believe that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could introduce darker tones and horror elements.
The villain has previously been known to be brutal and terrifying in various pieces of media, and Insomniac Games could use this opportunity to create unique gameplay mechanics to portray Venom’s threat.
Previously, Batman Arkham Asylum utilized Scarecrow for unexpected horror segments, using the character’s psychological elements to surprise the players. Insomniac Games may implement similar sections with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, potentially with their spin on the mechanics.
However, it should be noted that nothing is confirmed for now. It would be best to take this information with a grain of salt until official information comes from the developers.
Over a year after the initial reveal, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to return to the spotlight. With brand-new hardware and several years of experience for the developers, the game has the potential to become a special release for Insomniac Games.
