Architectural Details
- Process Node: Both the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Super come with a 12nm processing node introduced by Nvidia with the launch of their turning architecture.
- Clock Speed: At the base clock, the 1660 Super runs at 1530 MHz compared to the 1365 MHz by the 2060. In terms of boost clock, the 1660 super runs at 1785 MHz, whereas the 2060 runs at 1680 MHz.
- VRAM: Both the RTX 2060 and the GTX 1660 Super share the same 6GB GDDR6 VRAM, running at 336.0 GB/s, featuring a 192-bit memory bus.
- TDP: Since the RTX 2060 has additional dedicated RT and tensor cores onboard, it requires more juice to run. Therefore, I observe a higher TDP on it at around 160 watts. Compared to that, the TDP on the 1660 Super is capped at 125 watts.
- Supported Technologies: Lastly, the RTX 2060’s superior architecture allows it to provide features like Ray Tracing and DLSS, which the 1660 super can not provide due to the lack of dedicated RT and Tensor cores.
Today I will be comparing two old-school GPUs from Nvidia’s Turing architecture. The RTX 2060 vs GTX 1660 Super and see which one aged better over the years and if either of these is worth considering for your rig in 2024.

GeForce RTX 2060 Vs GTX 1660 Super: Which One Would I Recommend?
GTX 1660 Super: It is a slightly easier recommendation out of the two, in my opinion, since it provides a bit more value for the price it’s being sold at. It is roughly 26% cheaper than the RTX 2060, and on average, it performs 18% worse in games. This means, from a cost-to-performance standpoint, the 1660 Super is the better bang for the buck. Not only that, but it also performed slightly better in terms of thermals.
RTX 2060: I’d say, If you can spare a few more bucks, you should definitely consider RTX 2060. You will not only get much better performance but also a much superior architecture. This architecture consists of dedicated Ray Tracing and Tensor cores, which provide you additional perks like DLSS and Ray Tracing, which can make or break the performance difference case for 2060.
I personally believe that the GeForce RTX 2060 and Geforce GTX 1660 Super were two of the most popular budget segment GPUs launched by Nvidia back in their time. They are both entry-level graphic cards in their respective series.
